RESIDENCIES

2019 Alexandria Conchola hired as an Assistant Professor for the Graphic Design
program at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi

2018 Alexandria Conchola (Grad) applied and was accepted as an artist in residency
at Zea Mays Printmaking Residency in Florence, MA. Sept 18-30.

2018 Alexandria Conchola (Grad) attended artist in residency at the Otis College of
Art and Design, Los Angeles, CA. June 4-30.

2018 Samm Rawls (Grad) was accepted into an artist residency at Centrum in Port
Townsend, WA. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend.

2018 Josie Del Castillo (Grad) was accepted and attended a residency into an artist
residency at Centrum in Port Townsend, WA. May 27-June 17

AWARDS

2018-19 Mentor to Alissa Flores, Elliud Hernandez, who received additional funding to
complete the project as to make it durable for transport and exhibition nationally.
$2000.00 Engaged Scholar Award for “Salt Carpet printer” which is an extension of my
professional research.

2017-18 Mentor to Vilma Flores Lead, Alissa Flores, Gabriel Vargas, Amanda De Leon, Elliud
Hernandez, Ivan Ramierz, who received a $2000.00 Engaged Scholar Award for “Salt
Carpet printer” which is an extension of my professional research.

2018 The Salt Carpet printer research team presented their research at the Engaged Scholar
Symposium.

2018 Vilma Flores was awarded the title Undergraduate Distinguished Scholar for the
Engaged Scholar Symposium. Under my teaching and mentorship produced her
winning works in conjunction with the FABLAB.

TEACHING HIGHLIGHTS

2024 Collaboratively arranged with Elizabeth Shores for artist and feminist Micol Hebron to
visit our school to give an artist lecture around Artificial Intelligence and student related
project in the Edelman Planetarium, March 25-28.

2023 Mentored Gabriella Kennedy as a work-study as a Digital Technician though the RAV
Studio, the department’s 3D lab. In 2024, just after graduation gained a job at Rowan
College of South Jersey Clay College running their clay extrusion-based 3D printers.

2019 Mentoring Alissa Flores a computer engineering student for the salt-carpet her senior
project. Coding and adding a Raspberry to allow for the easy initiation of files, Spring.

2019 Arranged for artist and feminist Micol Hebron to visit our school to initiate an
Augmented Reality art project and hold a Feminist (shorts) film festival. March 17-22.

2018 Graduate Student Alexandria Canchola was hired as an assistant professor at Texas
A&M Corpus Christie, TX.

2018 Summer I: I was once again honored to take students abroad to Florence, Italy.
Covering content and development of source material.

2017 Developed Graduate Class in relation to 3D art studio practice, service learning, and
community engagement.

2017 Students in small groups created interactive installations for public outreach/service-
learning project at the Edinburg Scenic Wetlands and World Birding center. November 4.

2017 Dallas and Ft Worth trip with graduate students. I was able to arrange travel fully
funded for MFA and MAIS students to conduct visual research. Dr. Pizzinato and I
escorted students on this research trip. November 11 and 12.

2017 During the Dallas trip, I arranged for the students to conduct a POP-UP Show in Fort
Worth with a project they had already completed. I made sure they had the experience
of having to pack a show, install and break it down in a public space.

2018 I arranged an April 15-18 visit for Nanz Aalund, a professional jeweler, leader in the field
and writer to speak of the future training of jewelry specialists. She presented a technical
demo, artist lecture, and formal public lecture about apprenticeships in jewelry.

2017 Erick Rodriguez ’17 BFA who took two classes of game design was accepted into NYU,
SMU (Plano), Digipen (Redmond), DePaul University Chicago. He attended SMU’s MFA
guild hall program which is number 1 in the country.

2018 Julie Byrd ’15 BFA Game Design and Drawing concentrations, went on to earn her
MFA ’18 at SCAD for animation and in 2018 was hired for Scientific Games as a 3D artist
in game production in Chicago IL.

2017 Gerry Gonzalez ’13 BFA whom concentrated in Jewelry and Painting earned his
MFA degree at Pratt in jewelry is currently working in a custom Architectural firm
manufacturing custom metalwork for high end residences and businesses in Brooklyn
NY and his own craft jewelry line that as of 2017 is being carried by Facere Gallery.
Which is one of the most important craft galleries in the country.

2017 April Cartwright ’16 BFA received an internship at the National Museum of Women in
the Arts, Washington DC. She has since had to return home due to family illness but
made good contacts and plans to return to DC.
